I heard Karen Peck for the first time tonight on the music station of my TV. Her sweet voice and beautiful songs with the message of hope in Jesus just touch my heart. I wanted to share this especially beautiful song with you all. I hope it touches your heart as much as it does mine.

I have been taking a few days off and just enjoying my family.  On Monday, we were all just exhausted for some reason and decided to take a “personal day”.  :)   My hubby and my two sons watched movies together and then later my sons and I played our online game, “Guild Wars”.  I know I’ve told this story before, but it really is worth repeating.  About a year and a half ago my youngest son asked me to get the game and play with him and my other son. They had been playing about a year themselves with another one of their friends.  I was so touched and, frankly, amazed that my children would want their mother to play with them! I decided to give it a try even though I didn’t think I’d like it and am I ever glad I did! It’s such a fun game and it’s something my sons and I do together even now. Anyway, we also made homemade pizza that day and munched on and off all day and just had a fun day.  We all really needed it and it was so nice to be able to do it!

Tuesday, I felt good enough that I did some cleaning in my bedroom.  It’s been just a disaster area since I hurt my back last October. I’ve practically lived full time in my bedroom and it showed! I went through some of my books and got them put in a box to trade in and was able to get the rest of my books that were stacked on the floor in front of my bookshelf on the shelves! That was so nice.  I also went through magazines and got rid of the ones I had read. I donate my magazines to our local library so they can sell them and make some money for the library.  I also changed the table that is next to my chair that I not only sit in, but sleep in.  I needed something bigger that I could keep my pills on, my book, and other stuff.  I’m actually using an old typewriter stand that is on wheels and covered it with one of my old table clothes from the 40′s.  It’s just wonderful.  Now, lest you think I’m crazy for doing all this with my back, let me assure you that I had help.  I have also learned to sit on my desk chair and use it when I need to pick up things or work on things.  It really does save the back! Anyway, I still have more to do in my room, but just getting that much done was such a lift to my spirits!

Wednesday I did some paperwork for my hubby from  my recliner and rested from doing all that work on Tuesday.  I have to be very careful not to over-do …which is very hard for me.  I’ve always over-done!

Today I’ve been working on putting new things in my Etsy shop.  Etsy has been having some issues loading so I don’t have everything in there yet, but here’s a tiny preview of things you’ll be able to find.

Be sure and come by my Etsy Shop and check things out!

On October 25th, 2010, at about 1:30 pm, my sweet, little, Tammy Lou, passed away.  She had heart trouble that we found out about 2 years ago.  At that time, they didn’t think she would even survive for 6 weeks, but they gave her three different pills and she did quite well!  I was so happy! She did very well until over the weekend.  She woke up on Sunday morning and seemed to be more lethargic, but she was eating and drinking fine.  It had been colder over the weekend and so I thought it might be affecting her.  I wrapped her in a blanket and she was doing much better.  She had a good day, but I decided that I would call the Vet on Monday to take her and have her checked out.

I called her on Monday and made an appointment for the afternoon.  In the meantime, Tammy Lou was sitting in her bed and seemed to be doing okay.  Of course, I was in my recliner with the heating pad, and was nodding off when I heard this strange noise next to my chair.  I said to my son, “Where is Tammy Lou?”  I somehow knew the noise was coming from her. He looked and she was under the footrest of my chair.  He said, “Tammy Lou?”  in a very strange tone of voice and I knew something was wrong.  I sat up and saw that she was on her side at my feet and was breathing very shallow.  Immediately, my son and I tried to help her and tried for several minutes, but I knew that she was going away.  She passed away in my arms.

I had Tammy Lou since she was 6 weeks old and she lived to be over 12 years old.  She was a vital part of my life and I will miss her immensely. I like to think she is frolicking around in heaven, playing with a favorite toy. I know, many don’t believe that animals go to heaven, but I like to think that the Lord understands how important our pets are and He has them waiting for us when we get to heaven. (Oh, please, let’s not get into a theological discussion about this. My belief will neither get me into heaven or out of it and we don’t really know, do we? My salvation is in Jesus and Jesus alone).  My precious girl will always be in my heart and I’m thankful for the 12 happy years I shared with that sweet, little poodle.  Rest in peace, Tammy Lou.

I was over visiting one of my favorite blogs, A Wise Woman Builds Her Home, and she’s having the most wonderful give-away! It’s for the Scentsy Warmer and 3 Scentsy bars!  Is this not the most wonderful thing?  I love it because it does not use candles, but uses a light bulb to melt the wax bars.  I love this! I do burn candles, however, with my mother-in-law now living with me, I can’t always keep them lit and I worry that she will burn herself.  This totally solves that problem!  I think the warmers are just gorgeous, too!

Head on over to A Wise Woman Builds Her Home and enter the giveaway!  What a lovely way to make our homes even more cozy and welcoming!

“He has made everything beautiful in it’s time”  Ecclesiastes 3:11

Fall has finally arrived!  We had so much hot weather, I was fearing that the cool, crispness of Autumn would never arrive, however, it has come and with a bang!  We had four – yes four- tornadoes in the northern part of our state that wreaked havoc and destruction.  Thank the good Lord, no one was killed, however, people have had their homes destroyed and their lives turned upside down.  We had tornado warnings for our area, too, but thankfully, none materialized.  We did have horribly high winds and torrential rains and hail.  Summer left us in a wild rush and now, I believe, Fall is here to stay for awhile.
In our Bible study, we are studying the Disciple John.  This is a study by Beth Moore and I am learning so much.  The way the study is done, we are made to really approach God’s Word as if they are actually there with the disciples and Jesus.  Oh, my.  It has opened my eyes to the Word of God in a fresh new way and helps me to see the deep love the Lord has for us, anew.  It has been a very humbling experience to be a leader for the study. The Lord has grown me so much and blessed me with a wonderful group of ladies.  I always come away from the study in awe of the growth the Lord is doing in all of us.
I am also doing another Bible study about our speech.  What we say, how we say it, and how powerful our speech is.  Again, the Lord is really growing me through this.  The Lord knows that I need growth in this area and my eyes have really been opened to watching what I say.  As our heart is – so our mouth speaks.  That is very convicting to me and I’m trying to keep my heart focused on Jesus so that my tongue will only speak those things which edify.
We recently celebrated my husband’s birthday.  I don’t think he was exactly thrilled with this one as he turned 65.  He did have a wonderful day, though, and enjoyed everything.  I’m always happy to celebrate another birthday with him.
I’m watching one of my all-time favorite movies this evening, “Pride and Prejudice”. Everything about this movie touches my heart – the story, the scenery, the beautiful costumes and, most of all, the music.  Oh, the music is most wonderful.  I have the CD and I can listen to it over and over again.  I highly recommend this movie – it touches one’s heart most deeply.
It is late and I must be off to bed.  I’m struggling with horrible pain in my back again and am praying that tomorrow the pain will be lessened.  God willing, I will be able to get out of my recliner and away from the heating pad for awhile.
